MEET THE TEAM

The Founder
Andrew Smalley - Founder and CEO
Andrew has done a lot of stuff. He's managed and directed a bunch of regional and national companies, produced and directed two music festivals, exec-produced three fashion shows, served as a NED on several boards, and has given lots of lectures, talks and seminars. He founded Systemic Creative in 2016.
He's currently developing Systemic Creative's Research collaboration with a crack team of biophysicists at Lancaster University and delivering our Organisational Development Programme.
When he's not doing any of that, you'll find him in mountains, forests or deserts on some sort of expedition, usually bike-related.

The Engager
Rebecca Witcombe - Strategic Director
Rebecca has an extraordinary ability to get people to do things. She has a couple of decades of experience of managing community projects and teams in the Lancashire Wildlife Trust and TCV, along with leading international conservation projects in the USA and Iceland. She brings all of that to help us in our engagement and strategic activities. She's a non-exec at Systemic Creative, but as the most natural leader we've ever met, her advice and support are invaluable.
When she's not people-ing, she'll be on her bike, on a greenway, or up a mountain.

The Initiator
Joe Horne - Business Development Consultant
Multiple entrepreneur Joe specialises in supporting early stage businesses with fundraising, strategy, operations and leadership. He's a man who gets stuff done and will support you to do the same. If accountability is your thing and you haven't got through that list before your holiday, Joe will turn up at your sun lounger with a laptop. Although to be fair, he'll probably also bring you a beer.
He has a terrifying work ethic, but on the rare occasions he's not working up a project, he's a family man and loves having adventures with his kids.

The Researcher
Ellie Glaister - Research and Data Manager
Ellie is our resident polymath. She's enabled particle identification using a convolutional neural network, optimised data summarisation in LLMs, conducted advanced algorithmic analysis for Siemens, and analysed power and phase coherence in physiological and cognitive data from people with Huntington's disease. Phew. She's a bit of a hero!
Ellie undertakes research and consultancy projects and is part of the Systemic Creative Science Communication Team on YouTube.
When she's not intently processing complex information of one form or another, she plays football, crochets, goes to the gym and drinks lots of coffee.

The Calculator
Marc Jackson - Financial Consultant
Marc's 15 years with Santander and 3 as a consultant CFO mean that he's ready to do the sums that keep you up at night. He has abundant knowledge of management accounting, tax, forecasting and corporate finance, and loves nothing more than staying up until 3 in the morning perfecting a spreadsheet.
He might sleep less than the average person, but Marc has a strong passion for providing advice and support to build successful companies and make clients' lives easier.
When he's not being a mathematical engine, you'll find him playing video games, watching sport or supporting his local publicans.

The Communicator
Eve Clulow - Scientific Consultant
Eve is a physicist at the National Physical Laboratory (NPL) in the UK. She spends her days working on the measurement of time and frequency using lasers, atomic clocks and other cool stuff. Luckily for us, she also brings her eloquent and precise delivery of all things scientific to our YouTube channel. You can see her in action here.
Apart from being a professional nerd, Eve has interests in fashion (she's our unofficial Fashion Director), film and music. She indulges in the odd epic board game session and reps her Systemic Creative merch at the gym.

The Coder
Richard Horne - Tech Wizard
You may think Richard's job title here is a joke. It's not. Or at least that's how it seems to us. If you ask him "can you make X do Y?", the answer is always yes, and the solution always works. If he doesn't know how to do something, he just teaches himself.
Richard uses his 25 years of code and systems based problem-solving experience to support businesses with application inception and optimisation.
When not in the matrix, Richard enjoys kayaking the beautiful reservoirs of Yorkshire and wrangling his menace of a dog, Nadja.

The Precisionista
Clive Parry - Strategic Advisor
Clive is a master of all things detailed and will be the first to tell you that he has a disturbing relationship with order. Combined with his decades of experience in directorial and senior management roles in national organisations (most recently as England Director of ARC), his role in our team is to help us and our clients get things right, both accurately and precisely. Just don't get him started on the difference between the two...
When not obsessing about such things (or processing something which happened five years ago), Clive loves biking, hiking and camping in his beloved VW Van.
